In this episode of the More Movies Weekly podcast, Greg and Dave discuss The Godfather 50th Anniversary. Premiering fifty years ago, on March 14, 1972, the film opened to blockbuster business and became a landmark, inspiring two film sequels, imitations, book sequels, a computer game, parodies, and more cultural references and quotable dialogue than nearly any movie of the last half-century. Directed by Francis Ford Coppola, who co-wrote the screenplay with Mario Puzo and starred Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, Richard Castellano and Robert Duvall.
Don Vito Corleone, head of a mafia family, decides to hand over his empire to his youngest son Michael. However, his decision unintentionally puts the lives of his loved ones in grave danger in The Godfather 50th Anniversary.
We also take a look at the movie news, including the sad announcement of Bruce Willis‘ retirement after his recent anouncement telling the world of his aphasia diagnosis. We take a moment to look back over his fruitful career and celebrate some of the great movies he has starred in over the years. We also discuss the recent hikes in ticket prices at the cinema, particuarly around the The Batman (2022) release this March and the potential pitfalls these new price structures could pose.
